A German developed open source web based learning management system. ILIAS means ‘Integriertes Lern-, Informations- und Arbeitskooperations-System’ which translates as ‘Integrated Learning, Information and Work Cooperation System’.Version 1 was released on November 2 1998 it was made open source due to demand in 2000. The concept of ILIAS is to offer an ever adaptable online environment for learning.
One of the features of ILIAS is the personal desktop which is a unique workspace for each tailored for each individual user be they tutor, learner or administrator. ILIAS has many typical Learning Management System features like: course management, collaboration groups, tests and assessment, learning content repository, webcasting and online surveys.
